We seek to open each lesson by painting a broad picture of a topic before diving into details.

This way, it can be relevant for a wide audience - those very new to Jewish learning, and those who are seasoned learners but looking to reframe and refresh their relationship with the information.

We tie the content of each lesson into our students lived experience. We ask questions of self reflection, and welcome the imagination of what a more meaningful, connected life can look and feel like as often as we can.

This can take the form of explicit questions and prompts for self-reflection, or have more subtle forms of reflection woven into the context itself.

The Jewish histories and context that we provide are reliably authentic and accurate, while bringing them into nondogmatic contemporary contexts.

To us, authenticity also means having a lens wider than the Ashkenormative standards of much modern Jewish education and media. We highlight and honor the diverse, pluralistic nature of the Jewish community.

We welcome the incorporation of the ideas that our educators find relevant and meaningful to the topic at hand, even when they are not rooted in Judaism. For example, we have folded in the Pleasure Activism work of adrienne maree brown, the Rest as Resistance framework of Tricia Hersey, and the Nonviolent Communication frameworks of Marshall Rosenberg into our lessons.

Each Lesson ends with a form of ritual guidance. Sometimes this is overtly clear to the topic of the lesson, sometimes it’s somewhat more abstract.

Our approach to ritual is a practice that is time-bound (has a beginning, middle, and end), which incorporates the senses, and which is connected with a larger intention. If you would like support or partnership in crafting this, please do let us know.
