A Year of Living Jewishly

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Program

What It’s All About

For almost 20 years, Rabbi Yossi’s vision has been to introduce Bar/Bat Mitzvah aged children to the principles of Judaism, by learning about its values, and living them as well. Rabbi Yossi’s novel approach provides students with a fresh appreciation of Jewish culture and heritage, and a memorable B’nai Mitzvah experience.

The Year of Living Jewishly program for Bar/Bat Mitzvah aged children frames this year as the first year of their journey towards a Jewish adulthood. The curriculum is founded on experiential principles and offers a modern and self-challenging approach to teaching and learning about Judaism.

What is unique about YLJ?

The best gift we can give our children is the impetus to engage with their Jewish identity beyond their Bar/Bat Mitzvah. At YLJ we do this by repackaging the values and moral lessons of Judaism into guiding principles for meaningful Jewish living in adulthood.

Rabbi Yossi’s dynamic, teen aware personality resonates with young people, encouraging a connection that can last a lifetime. Under his watchful eye, and throughout a year of study and hands on involvement in Jewish causes, B’nai Mitzvah are readied to move into adulthood with a useful toolkit of Jewish values, relevant and applicable to their everyday modern lives.
